Connectivity

Designed with walking, biking, and commuting in mind.

"We're talking about connecting people in every way people can be connected, through the built environment, having architecture that connects to the street, having transit, connecting with your neighbor down the street." - Rudy Kadlub

Connectivity means giving people the chance to interact. We incorporate central plazas, central mail facilities, recreational areas, and carefully selected commercial tenants, all with the goal of creating a community where people can live, work and play among friends and neighbors. The mail center, grocer, and local coffee shop are places where people can meet and befriend other members of the community, expanding their community from direct neighbors to those who live around the corner and down the street.

Connectivity means giving people choices in how they move about. We believe that no community can be complete without a variety of transit options. We do this by building enduring communities on a scale that allows humans to flourish. Costa uses a variety of design features to favor people over cars. Carefully crafted streets with close focal points, green spaces to walk toward, walkable distances to retail, decreased setbacks to slow traffic, and a myriad of other features all focus on the pedestrian, skateboarder, rollerblader, biker, or baby in a stroller. Also, an integral part of all our communities is their proximity to public transportation, reducing the total amount of vehicle miles travelled.

Our planners build streets that give people several ways to get from place to place. We have virtually eliminated cul-de-sacs that enclose spaces and prevent connectivity. We also install the latest fiber-optic data lines to ensure super-fast connectivity on the information superhighway.
