WILSONVILLE, Ore. – October 29, 2008 – Welcoming more than 3,000 competitors and spectators, River City Bicycles Cross Crusade recently held a cyclocross event at the new Villebois community in Wilsonville, Ore. The Cross Crusade course traversed the hills and construction zones in and around the new Villebois Village Center, with various categories of riders racing at different intervals throughout the day. The event started with the “Beginners” category at 9 a.m. and ended around 4 p.m. with the “Category A Men and Masters Category A 35+”.
An increasingly popular sport amongst bicycle enthusiasts, a cyclocross race is typically comprised of several laps around a short course between 1.5 and 2 miles in length. Throughout the course, riders generally must negotiate through a complex combination of pavement, gravel, grass, steep hills and other obstacles. Riders must possess honed skills when it comes to maneuvering their bikes and having the ability to dismount quickly and carry their bikes through rough terrain. The unique challenges of a cyclocross course makes for an entertaining event for both participants and spectators.
“The Villebois Village Center presented a perfect venue for the River City Bicycles Cross Crusade to stop at because the active healthy lifestyle lived by cyclists meshes well with the principles guiding the development of the Villebois community,” says Noel Johnson, Development Associate with Trammel Crow Residential.
Trammell Crow Residential recently completed the luxury rental project, Miraval at Villebois, and master-planner and developer, Costa Pacific Communities recently began construction on the first homes available in the Village Center. Costa’s Carvalho Condominiums and Seville Rows are just two examples of the distinctive home styles that will be available in the Villebois Village Center.
The lively, European-inspired Village Center will include row homes, loft-style condominiums and urban apartments. At the heart of the community, there will be an inviting plaza – Piazza Villebois – lined with shops, sidewalk cafés and balconies of the homes above. In the Piazza, residents will be able to relax with a book, entertain themselves on the bocce ball courts and listen to live musical entertainment. The Villebois Village Center will also be a location for popular events such as a local farmer’s market and other seasonal festivals.
Pedestrian-friendly paths, trails and tree-lined streets connect the Village Center to parks, woods, open green spaces and the architecturally diverse neighborhoods of single-family homes that Costa Pacific Communities developed.
